Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age of Technology
Whether we like it or not now days technology plays a part in not only what we do but how we do things. When you think of Haute Couture garments they're mostly very limited as one of one's that were hand made (manus). On the contrary you have mass produced garments that you can find in a variety of sizes and sometimes colors that were made by machine (machina). Instead of displaying both techniques oppositionally, The Costume Institute brought them together in order to display the continuation in influence of both techniques. Whether hand sewn or made completely by machine both techniques advance the future of fashion by finding new resolutions to design problems as well as enhancing design practices all together.
